Each month, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce chooses a different member to be the “Spotlight” for that month. That member submits an article highlighting themselves and their business and what they provide to the Brooklyn community. If you would be interested in being featured in an upcoming month, please let me know.
Below is the Member Spotlight for August…Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD)
The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD), established in 1967, supports and empowers people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work and play in the community.
Annually, CCBDD provides support and services to 12,000 people with developmental disabilities of all ages, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds. Services provided are based on a philosophy of self-determination and person-centeredness. Services can include the early intervention program for children ages birth through two, behavioral and health services, therapy consultation to partner agencies (physical, occupational, and speech and language), support administration (case management), family supports and respite care, advocacy training, and linkages to community resources. Helping people with developmental disabilities progress along a pathway to competitive employment and enjoy the benefits of full community membership, as each person desires, are a main focus of the provision of services.
We have volunteer opportunities available. CCBDD’s Brooklyn Adult Activities Center, located at 10991 Memphis Ave. in Brooklyn, always has the need for volunteers from individuals or businesses in the community. Some volunteers come as a group for a special event and others volunteer on a regular basis. To learn more or to schedule a visit, contact Daniel Nolen, Adult Activities Services Manager, at (216) 941-6004.
